Cooee Academy: A nature based music & ritual theatre school for unearthing confidence and communication skills in kids and teens.

Using musical exploration, team building challenges, skillset expansion, communication processes and improv theatre to support young people in cultivating a strong sense of self.

How we use music to express, embody & integrate

At Cooee Academy we facilitate sessions using percussion, ritual theatre and the Loop Station RC600 to foster the skills and creativity of students.

Things cultivated in classes include:

  • exploring lyricism and poetry writing for connection to inner thoughts, feelings and self expression.

  • building upon any existing vocal or instrumental skills by using the Loop Station to craft whole and well-rounded songs.

  • using percussion as a dynamic means of emotional regulation, body awareness and coordination.

  • learning these skills through games, play and collaboration.

Exploring emotions & Expression

Ritual Theatre

Ritual theatre is a form of performance art that combines elements of traditional rituals, ceremonies, and theatrical expressions with play and games. It can involve body language, storytelling, music, dance, and dramatic elements to explore emotions and spiritual or personal themes, and can support kids through personal growth, processing, transformation, and self expression.

We explore ritual theatre within Cooee Academy to support students to integrate and put into action the values and character strengths which we discuss during the program.

Lyrics, Poetry & Communication Skills

Crafting lyrics and poetry provides kids with an opportunity and outlet for self expression as they navigate social, emotional and introspective situations throughout life. By experimenting and activating their vocal confidence in a safe environment, kids are able to expand their skills in communication, empathy, understanding and regulating their own emotions and thoughts.
